RoofCERT is the only accreditation scheme in the country to offer roofing operatives independent endorsement of their technical abilities.
Currently, roofing operatives/installers who have a minimum of 3 years + experience can apply to become fully accredited without paying any fee. It’s all about proving competency & knowledge, so applicants need to provide evidence of a roofing NVQ/SVQ (note: another route is currently being trialled), in addition to having recently attended approved 6 training courses (which can include e-learning courses), in the following subjects:
Asbestos Awareness, Abrasive Wheels, Manual Handling, Working at Height, Emergency First Aid and Fire Safety
A knowledge test also forms part of the process and this is carried out on a laptop/tablet provided, or online.
The scheme is funded by CITB, with the registration process currently free of charge, and is open to all individual operatives, although employers are welcome to make contact on their behalf.
Your Regional Roof Training Group can support you through the whole process, so check out the Team page and get in touch!
