Roofing is an industry which allows you to join as an apprentice, develop your skills, from the practical through to Supervisory and Management and with determination and drive, ultimately to manage your own business, or, there are plenty of opportunities for those who opt to join later and either follow the practical, or supervisory, management or academic routes.You could be a skilled Roofing Operator/Installer if you:
- are physically fit
- are fascinated with buildings & roofs & would like to say, “I built that”
- wouldn’t mind interacting with customers if required
- are practical and like working with your hands
- don’t want to work in an office – and don’t mind being out in all weathers
- have a head for heights
- are practically minded
- get bored doing one thing all the time
- want regular working hours
- enjoy being hands-on
- you’d hate to be chained to a desk all day
You could follow a career in technical, supervisory and/or management roles if you:
- are fascinated by buildings & roofs and would love to say, "I helped build that!"
- enjoy design
- are practically minded and pay attention to detail
- get bored with doing one thing all the time

- like working with lots of different people

- can adapt your communication style depending on who you are working with

- like getting the best deal
